5.3    Human induced factors

One key component of the Life Project (see section 1.4) was to assess the interactions that can take place between human activities and the Annex I and II interest features on the twelve Life supported sites. Seven areas where human activity may impact on marine features were identified for study, ranging from specific categories of activity to broad potential impacts. They were:

  • port and harbour operations, (complete),

  • recreational user interactions, (in draft),

  • collecting bait and shoreline animals, (complete),

  • water quality in lagoons, (in draft),

  • water quality in coastal areas, (complete),

  • aggregate extraction, (in draft),

  • and fisheries (complete).
